SOCIAL AND GEOGRAPHICAL ASPECTS OF THE STUDY OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF THE TERRITORY (FOR EXAMPLE, AN OLD INDUSTRIAL REGION)

Abstract

The article presents the author's definition of the concept of "economic development of the territory" and indicated its main components. On the example of an old industrial region of Ukraine (Donetsk region) identified chronological periods of economic development of the territory, and within them disclosed its socio-geographic features. Characterized the current state of development of the economy of the region, is considered the modern system of population. Predicted direction and prospects for further development of old industrial region.
