The category of mystical: the scholar discourse and representation in the contemporary prose

Abstract

The article is devoted to overview of literary discourse on the problems of objectivation the mystical in fiction. The evolution of notion about literary mysticism in the ХІХ-ХХ century was presented. This article analyzes the terminological apparatus of the concepts, definitions of mystical in fiction. An attempt to revise the settled understanding of mysticism primarily in a religious context was made. We propose own definition of the mystical in fiction. The place of mystical in the system of fantasy prose founded out. Narrative strategies of creating a mystical modus, distinguished by researchers as general for the different metagenres, was reviewed.
