Typology of metaphor derivations in the semantic structure of lexemes with religious meaning

Abstract

The article defines the nature of transfers based on the similarity of features of common names between non-religious and religious spheres and vice versa. It is emphasized that a significant advantage in terms of basic onomasiological features belongs to functional similarity. Other similarities involved in the process of metaphorization (external and unrealistic (but desirable) characteristics, emotional and evaluative associative features, and mixed external-functional similarity) are subsidiary. The author points to the link between metaphorical post-religious and direct pre-religious meanings.
