The article deals with verbal lexemes expressing the semantics of the end of an action, process or state in Ukrainian and German languages on the basis of analysis of literature works. Such verbal lexemes that were found in two languages are divided into two groups: 1) verbs indicating that an action or a process are finished and not supposed to be started again; 2) verbs indicating that an action, a process or a state were interrupted. The received data shows that the semantics of verbal lexemes is very important for expressing the meaning of the final phase of an action in Ukrainian as well as in German languages.
