Goths on the Bosporus: Finds of coins Of Pharsanzes jn the Area of Chernyakhiv Culture

Abstract

The article is devoted to finds of Bosporan coins of pharsanzes (253/254–254/255 AD) on the area of Chernyakhiv Culture (20 coins of Pharsanzes finds on the territory of the five oblasts of Ukraine). A comparison of the intensity of the Bosporus minting coins 267–242 AD with the amount of Bosporan coins of this period founded on the territory Chernyakhiv Culture. Based on a comparison concluded predominance among the finds of coins of coin finds of Pharsanzes 253/254 AD. This suggests involvement of Gothic tribes who took part in the formation of Chernyakhiv Cultural events in the Bosporus, in particular in support of the Pharsanzes. Finds of Bosporan coins of Pharsanzes in Left bank of Dnieper forest-steppe confirm the version of those researchers who say, that Pharsanzes support of Gothic tribes, and the concentration of finds his coins in Poltava, Sumy and Kharkiv oblasts may indicate of region resettlement Gothic tribes ceded to the Bosporus.
