Abstract

The article is devoted to analysis of the lexical-semantic field “religion” of the Early Indo-European proto-language. The analysis shows that the Indo-European lexicon, related to the religious form of public consciousness, is scarce. There are no common Indo-European lexemes “god”, “spirit”, “soul”, “power” and “saint”. The Indo-European verbs “to pray”, “to sacrifice”, “to sing”, “to praise” and “to blaspheme”, etc. have later areal heterogeneous origin.
