The volume properties of the two-component system n-methylpyrrolidone - ethanol

Abstract

The dependences of the density of a two-component system N-methylpyrrolidone (NMP) - ethanol (EtOH) on the composition and temperature have been examined. The former is found to be non-linear that indicates that the system is non-ideal. Proceeding from these experimental data the pseudomolar volumes and excessive pseudomolar volumes (VME) have been calculated. Peculiarities of interparticle interactions in mixed solvents NMP - EtOH, in particular, the formation of associates NMP: 2 EtOH are discussed.
