Experimental determination of the positive ions formation cross sections of cytosine molecule and its fragments by slow electrons
Keywords:

The absolute cross sections for positive ions formations of the cytosine nucleic acid base were found for the first time using the modern technique of normally crossed molecular and electron beams. The ionization cross-section had a maximum of 78 eV of the electron energy and was 7.8.10-16 сm2. The partial cross-sections of the cytosine dissociative ionization products were determined as well. Biophysical consequences of the obtained results are discussed.
