Abstract

The paper substantiates the importance of considering the degree of satisfaction or dissatisfaction of the need for realizing life-meaning attitudes in implementing the sociological analysis of social institutions’ functioning. The author provides the argumentation in favor of the necessity for more distinct expressiveness of a sense-making function in the list of the key functions of social institutions. An increase in the importance of this function is marked in the period of global transformation and information technology revolutions. The author considers the interdependence between life-meaning attitudes and crisis processes in the system of functioning of certain social institutions.
