Panacea of Tavria: Toponym «Pleasant in all Relations»

Abstract

The article deals with the process of spreading the toponym «Tavria/Taurida» and enlargement of Taurian/Tauridian’s region borders. The author think for during Soviet times the reasons of this phenomenon had ideological meaning and in the years of Ukrainian independence this causes got the marketing character. Within of this process the informal geographical center of the region has also changed. Although historically Simferopol is the center of Tavria/Taurida now Kherson profess for this status. According to the author, the wide use of Tauridian vocabulary in various spheres of social life can lead to the diffusion of the Tavrian/Tauridian identity amongst inhabitants of South-Ukrainian oblasts.
