Ukrainian frontier as a geosophical issue

Abstract

The view of some American and Russian scholars on the notion “frontier” is outlined. The author’s typology of frontiers is adduced. The distinction of “non-limit” and “limit” as well as “line” and “plane” frontiers is grounded. The notion of “frontier space” is introduced. The directions of migration of Ukrainians in their past throw the context of shaping Ukrainian frontier are described. The line of the Ukrainian frontier which is localized in the Don river valley is defined. It is stressed on the partly Eurasian character of the Ukrainian land space which is connected with its essential spread on the steppe lands.
