The Participation of Community Societies in the Formation of Educational and Cultural Environment of Right-Bank Ukraine (Second Half of the 19th – Beginning of the 20th Centuries)

Abstract

The article analyzes the place and role of community societies in the formation of educational and cultural environment of powiat towns and settlements of Right-Bank Ukraine in the second half of the 19^th – beginning of the 20^th centuries, the development of which was inferior to province centers. The main focus is on social direction of educational and enlightening initiatives of town communities and their implementation in towns’ life, which laid foundation for the formation of civil society.
