Abstract

The article dwells on the study by scholars of imperial Kharkov University of certain medieval Poland problems. It is emphasized the studies of Kharkov scholars mainly reflected basic development trends of domestic pre-revolution Polonistics which was characterized by vastly ingrained Polonophobic ideas and the thesis of  dire disastrousness inherent in ideo-political and social-economic system of Poland selected as early as in Middle Ages. Kharkov scholars were interested fist of all in such problems as history of Polish culture and education (P. P. Gulak-Artemovskiy, A. L. Pogodin), character of Zygmunt I Old rule (A. P. Zernin), causes, running and results of Polish Reformation (V. P. Buzeskul). A large contribution to our domestic Polonistics was made by V. N. Petrov in respective sections of his «Lectures on World History» and A. L. Pogodin in his Brief «Essay on Slavs History», first in Russian Empire
