The Image of the Roma in the Slavic Ritual Paradigm (on materials of wedding and maternity rite)

Abstract

The article is devoted to coverage of specific implementation «Gipsy Code» in Slavic folk culture. Analysis of materials of puerperal and wedding ceremonies Slavic peoples allows us to conclude that the «Gipsy code» sufficiently entrenched at the level of stereotypes not only in people’s minds, but also in the traditional culture Slavs. Revealing regularities can obviously explain an exceptional way of life of this ethnic group, which is not assimilated in all countries with the indigenous population and therefore still remains a mystery to non-Roma environment
