Abstract

The article considers ways to adapt the ancient dramatic heritage in Byzantium. Coming in low to mid. 4th c. ancient drama was transformed and acquired new forms: liturgical drama, literary and public theatres. The Byzantine drama, moving away from the form and essence of the ancient theater performances, retained one important feature – the idea of the transmission of the dominant ideology in a dramatic means.
