Abstract

The place and the role of scientific councils as collegial self-governing bodies in the management and organizational structure of universities in Ukraine in the 19th century have been determined. The periodization of activities of scientific councils in the analyzed period has been substantiated. The functions of scientific councils in the context of delegated autonomy have been characterized.
