SummaryE. Shultce, M. Liubichev. The Ceramics of the Chernyakhov-culture from the Parcel “C” of settlement Viytenki 1 (as on the excavations of 2004–2006)In 2004 the Germano-Slavonic archaeological expedition of the V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University has started excavations in Voitenki 1, a site of the Chernyakhov-Culture. Under the direction of M. V. Liubichev a settlement extended over three terraces and a  cemetery situated on the upper part of terrace “C” are being investigated. The pottery of the site is analyzed by a joint Ukrainian-German project in cooperation with the Eurasia Department of the German Archaeological Institute and other specialists. This paper presents the ceramics of terrace “C” consisting of wheel-made pottery at 99 p.c. The ceramic finds can be subdivided into kitchenware and tableware. Kitchenware is primarily represented by pots and some storage vessels. Most of the pots have an everted neck; the rim and lip are shaped in different ways and the surface is coarse, rarely smoothed. The table ware includes first of all bowls of several types, further vases, jugs and beakers. The surface of these vessels is mostly smoothed or burnished. A  ceramic lid with handle for covering pots or other vessels is a special find within this complex. The settlement on terrace “C2” can be dated by a number of finds like fibulae, other jewellery and combs in the chronological phase C3—D1 or the second half of the 4th century AD.Key words: Late Roman Period, Chernyakhov culture, pottery ceramics, archaeological complex of Viytenki.
