SummaryB. Lyapustin. Provinces in an economic Life of the Noble Roman Familia of the 2nd century BС—1st century AD.provinces had an influence on an economic life of the Roman nobles by letting them enrich themselves owing to war booty, trade and financial operations. Following the civitas, the familia, main social and economic unit, spread outside Italy. That gave big incomes, but, at the same time, that made more difficult for the pater familias to control his agents in remote lands. It became impossible to successfully direct economic activities in provinces and simultaneously occupy with politics in Rome. As a result, the Roman nobility was divided in equites concerned in farming and financial operations, and senators devoted to politics. The last ones were continuously in need of money, which the famillia property could not supply them with in sufficient quantity. It was a reflection of the noble familia crisis at the epoch of the Roman civitas crisis.Key words: ancient Rome, provinces, familia, senators, equites, economy, finances. ER -
