The dating of specimens of the historical herbarium collections of XVIII–XIX cent. with using watermarks of paper

Results of investigation of paper of the historical herbarium collections of XVIII–XIX cent. in the National Herbarium of Ukraine (KW) have been presented. The effectiveness of using the method of dating by watermarks of paper (filigrees) for herbarium specimens has been shown for the Collection of J.E.Gilibert (XVIII cent.) for example. As a result, it has been established that «Zielnik. Klassa V» and «Zielnik. Klassa VI–XI» do not belong to J.E.Gilibert’s materials. Based on the study of archival sources it has been suggested that this herbarium of XIX century belonged to the Vilna University botanist, and along with other materials was transferred to Kiev in 1841 after the liquidation (1832) of the school.
