Social destructiveness: types, mechanisms and factors of actualization

Abstract

The theoretical analysis of the concept and phenomenon of social destructiveness in contemporary society was conducted in the article. We consider the works on destructive behavior of such researchers, as Z. Freud, E. Fromm, H. Marcuse, T. Adorno, M. Hornheimer. An example of a typology of destructive behavior (destructive behavior directed outwards: wars, terrorism, vandalism, and etc., as well as destructive behavior, directed at the man himself: suicide, drug addiction, alcoholism, and etc.). Particular attention is paid to the destructive phenomena of degradation of the social order in the post-Soviet space, in particular in the Ukrainian society. The attention is focused on such factors and mechanisms of destructive activities like war, which under current conditions is conducted using consciental weapons; terrorism, corruption, and others. The urgent need of scientific conceptualization of discussed issues including primarily sociological research of various manifestations of the phenomenon of social destructiveness in contemporary globalized society is stressed.
